Bhavana means place and dwelling. Originally, the Sanskrit and Pāli term also refers to cultivating, bringing into being, and meditating. We draw on these multiple meanings to offer an inclusive space, open to each person’s path.
After fourteen years as a yoga studio with a regular weekly schedule in the Villeray neighborhood, Bhavana is now a place of practice and nourishment that Marie-Daphné Roy continues to inhabit through her workshops, retreats, and trainings, and that she also opens to fellow teachers and therapists.
A space to cultivate presence, within oneself and with others.
Trainings
Our trainings, offered both in person and online, delve deeply into restorative yoga, yin yoga, therapeutic yoga, and somatic approaches focused on rest, alignment, nervous system regulation, and quality of presence.
They are intended for teachers and practitioners who wish to deepen their practice and their way of guiding others, within a safe, nuanced framework that is recognized for continuing education (Yoga Alliance).

ABOUT
The spirit of Yoga Bhavana
Bhavana is a word that invites cultivation: the cultivation of an inner state, a quality of presence, a way of inhabiting one’s body and one’s life, while also evoking a dwelling, a place to which one can return.
Since 2012, Yoga Bhavana has unfolded as an intimate practice space in Villeray, nourished by Kripalu yoga, the Iyengar approach, Insight Yoga, restorative and yin yoga, mindfulness meditation, and various trauma-informed somatic approaches.
People come here to settle, to sense more finely what is happening within, and to allow greater clarity, kindness, and freedom to emerge.
